Ads managed to booked jobs, not clicks.
Google Ads and Local Services Ads for home service companies. We start where leads are cheapest to prove, then layer Search when you’re ready to scale, without burning the account on agency fluff.
Rewired had paid multiple marketing companies with nothing to show. Their ads made money in our first month, and the company kept compounding from there.

Local Services Ads (pay per lead) first. Google Search when LSA isn’t enough or you want higher job quality at higher cost. Ideally both once you scale.
We audit expectations, website conversion, assets, keywords, negatives, bid strategy, and spam protection, not just “new campaigns.”
Complete ad assets so you take more screen real estate. Half-empty ads lose to fuller competitors by default.
Raise when you want more volume, usually ~10-20% steps, end of day/week, not wild jumps that nuke a working campaign.
If organic map traffic doesn’t convert, ads won’t either. We fix the page before we pour spend.
We still use Facebook/Meta heavily for recruiting. For customer leads we prefer Google; Meta is mostly retargeting or brand awareness later.
What we check when ads “don’t work”
Failed accounts are often expectation problems, not mysterious Google curses. We look at how long campaigns ran, what was promised, and whether the website can convert organic traffic at all. Slow or confusing sites get fixed first, that’s the silent killer behind “ads don’t work.”
Then the account: incomplete assets, one lazy ad vs multiple tested RSAs, wrong keyword breadth for the budget, missing negatives, mobile-only weirdness, spam filters, and conversion/bid setup. For most general home-service campaigns we favor a broader “max clicks / shotgun” approach over Max Conversions chasing the easiest cheap job types, because homeowners search the trade name, not the exact repair.
When we raise or lower spend
Budgets follow how busy you are and how much volume you want next, not a weekly vanity ritual. More budget doesn’t always mean more booked jobs; sometimes it just means Google gets paid more. We test, watch quality, and avoid slamming a winning campaign back into learning with oversized increases.
Meta for customer leads?
Usually no, not as the primary engine. Facebook leads need heavier follow-up and more persuasion; Google catches intent. Meta can still help for long-cycle, high-ticket offers (generators, etc.), light brand spend once you’re roughly in the $1-2M range, retargeting, and especially hiring.
